In the heart of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, stands the majestic cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia, a young martyr and co-patron of the city. Built between the 13th and 15th centuries, it combines grandeur and solemnity with tall Gothic naves, stained glass filtering sacred light, and a neo-Gothic façade from the 19th century. Inside are 25 side chapels, a carved wooden choir, and the saint’s crypt. In the peaceful cloister, thirteen white geese represent her age at martyrdom. Among pinnacles and 200+ gargoyles, odd creatures like elephants or unicorns mix stone with legend. From the terrace, the skyline unfolds in silenc a blend of history, faith, and architecture.
